Arpine Dokholian
Piano Instructor
Arpine Dokholian’s musical journey is a rich tapestry woven from diverse cultural influences and deep familial roots in music. Her initial inspiration came from her mother, a dedicated teacher of Armenian folk instruments, sparking Arpine’s lifelong passion for music. This early exposure led her to become a skilled accompanist and an ardent lover of the craft.
Arpine’s formal music education was pursued at the prestigious Komitas State Conservatory in Yerevan, Armenia, where she immersed herself in the study of piano and folk music. Her performances in numerous national shows not only honed her skills but also brought her into the limelight, capturing the attention of prominent figures in the music community, including the respected pianist and educator, Dr. Anna Khachatryan. Under such influential mentorship, Arpine flourished, completing both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees with distinction.
Upon graduation, Arpine chose to impart her knowledge and passion by teaching music in her local community. Her commitment to education deepened as she moved to Saint Petersburg, Russia, in 2008, where she was significantly influenced by the rich traditions of the Russian school of music. This period marked a significant evolution in her career as she transitioned from primarily performing to focusing on teaching. Arpine’s profound interest in Russian musical techniques enriched her teaching style, which resonated with her students and helped her studio grow.
In 2013, Arpine relocated to the United States, continuing her career in a new cultural context. Over the past 12 years, she has dedicated herself to guiding students through their musical journeys, emphasizing the joy and discipline of music. Today, Arpine is a valued member of the faculty at the International School of Music, where she contributes her extensive experience as both a piano teacher and an accompanist. Her approach is characterized by a blend of traditional and innovative methods, ensuring that each student’s experience is both educational and transformative.
