Dr. Susanna Zhamkochyan is an esteemed pianist and conductor with a rich educational background and extensive professional experience. She graduated with high distinction in piano performance from the Komitas State Conservatory in Yerevan, Armenia, in 1993. Her passion for continuous improvement led her to further her studies, earning a master’s degree in Choir Conducting and Piano Performance.

Dr. Zhamkochyan’s commitment to her craft is demonstrated by her dual PhDs in Choir Conducting and Opera/Symphony Conducting, obtained in 2001 and 2006, respectively. Her professional journey spans various roles within the musical field, from teaching piano at the Music and Art School in Armenia between 1993 and 2000, to serving as a conductor and professor in the Opera and Symphony departments at Komitas State Conservatory from 2003 to 2009.

Throughout her career, Dr. Zhamkochyan has been instrumental in the production and performance of numerous concerts and operas. Notably, from 1996 to 2008, she led the choir for the Blind Union in Armenia, showcasing her dedication to inclusive music education. Her international presence is marked by extensive tours in Italy, the Netherlands, Russia, Belarus, and the United States, where she conducted acclaimed symphonies by Schubert, Beethoven, Brahms, Prokofiev, Mendelssohn, and Tchaikovsky.

In 2009, Dr. Zhamkochyan relocated to the United States, bringing her expertise to the International School of Music in Glendale, California. Here, she continues to inspire and educate new generations of musicians, contributing significantly to the cultural fabric of the community.
